The Institut Français du Bénin in Cotonou is part of the Beninese cultural landscape and represents in the eyes of the population a space of freedom and creation based on a quality partnership approach. She celebrated her 50th birthday in 2013. It is a place for dissemination but also a tool for cooperation at the service of Beninese people. Each year, the establishment organizes numerous cultural events (concert, cinema, theater, exhibition, etc.) and offers an entire artistic youth a place for quality expression, meetings and exchanges that nourishes the pleasure of the public and the work of artists.

The IFB actively participates in the promotion and influence of the French language by organizing several events around Francophonie Day and French Language Week. In March 2017, school audiences, students, professionals and amateurs participated for a month in sports meetings (Foulées de la Francophonie), literary events and language competitions: the Scrabble tournament, French-speaking dictation, to name just a few examples.
