Community conservation of Atlantic sea turtles and their habitats along the coast of Benin
For decades, we have known the global importance of sea turtles, which benefit from special monitoring on the American side of the Atlantic, but they are unfortunately massacred on the African coast. Among other things, taking into account the protection of biological diversity and the efficient management of natural resources are essential conditions for sustainable development. In this context, sea turtles are listed in Annex I of the Convention on the Protection of Migratory Species of Wild Animals or the Bonn Convention (CMS) to which Benin adhered by decree No. 83-204 of 31 May 1983. Consequently, they were declared fully protected by Law No. 2002-16 of 18 October 2004 on the wildlife regime in the Republic of Benin.
