Simplified management and management plan for the sacred Oro-zoun forest of Anagodome (Adjarra)

Sacred forests are an endogenous form of conservation of biological diversity in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Since the round table on the “Sacred and the Environment”, organized by the UNESCO Science Division in Paris during the 11th World Forestry Congress in 1991, greater attention has been paid to the study of sacred forests around the world. In Africa, sacred forests, the result of biocultural interactions, have also been the subject of numerous studies in Kenya, Congo and Ghana. Despite being a signatory to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Benin really does not know how to occupy sacred forests in all their dimensions. Indeed, the few studies have focused only on their socio-cultural dimensions, very few ecological studies have so far been carried out on sacred forests. Today, with the implementation of the Project to Integrate Sacred Forests into the System of Protected Areas (PIFSAP) these ecosystems long considered as marginal vegetation elements will be recognized and valued.
The sacred forest “Oro-zoun” of Anagodomè, the subject of this simple simplified management and management plan, is no exception to this diversity of functions. The work to develop and implement the PAGS of the FS Oro-zoun of Anagodomè is inspired by a methodological approach defined by the PIFSAP over a time horizon of five years in view of the specificities of this ecosystem. This document is the result of the work.
