Report on the implementation of the project: “Awareness-raising and mobilization of stakeholders for the implementation of the 2011 — 2020 national biodiversity strategy”

One of the major consequences of shortcomings and weak points is that certain categories of actors develop predatory behavior without worries. Management/governance, coordination of interventions, communication around the SPANB and the appropriation of achievements by sustainable structures were not satisfactory. In accordance with the requirements of the Convention, Benin still has a national strategy document for 2020, which should be implemented in a synergistic and coordinated manner in order to meet the vision and guiding principles contained in it. Indeed, the national strategy, based on the shortcomings of the former strategy, is based on the following vision: “By 2020, decentralized local authorities, the State and civil society are more involved in concrete and concerted actions to know, promote, conserve and restore biological diversity for the socio-economic development and well-being of the populations of Benin” This is the adherence of all actors to the common vision of Biological Diversity., real commitment and involvement of all actors in a dynamic and synergistic planning/programming process, the systematic consideration of the NBSAP as a tool for integrating Biodiversity into national and local development programmes, the coherence between the NBSAP and national and sectoral strategies, the national and regional synergy relating to the Conventions on Biological Diversity and other multilateral environmental agreements, the promotion of active public-private partnerships around biodiversity issues and the consideration of The ecosystem approach in the implementation of actions. This report provides an update on the implementation of the NBSAP awareness-raising project.
