The Participatory Management and Management Plan (PAG) of the Pendjari Biosphere Reserve, designed for the
period from 2004 to 2013, is halfway through its implementation. After successive evaluations, it appeared
that certain provisions could be revised in order to better meet the
new requirements and aspirations arising from the experiences acquired. Indeed, it turned out that certain stakeholders such as
local hunters and fishermen, both in the coastal zone and in the area of influence, were not sufficiently
taken into account in the participatory process of drawing up the previous PAG. Better still, the evaluation of
the effectiveness of the management of the protected area with the “Enhancing our Heritage (EoH)” tool, revealed shortcomings, in
particular in the definition of objectives and impact results, as well as in the monitoring of
related indicators. Therefore, as part of the development of the nomination of Pendjari National Park on the UNESCO List of Natural World Heritage Properties, it is necessary to have a management plan that meets the requirements of a
World Heritage property. This document, which constitutes a reference for park managers, is designed for a period of ten years (2004 —2013).
