2010 May 13National seminar on the reforestation strategy of Benin, Final technical report
- The National Seminar on Reforestation in Benin (SNR) was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection, from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 May 2010, at the Nifur Hotel in Bohicon. It brought together more than 150 actors. The objective of this seminar is to allow participants to exchange and take stock of the achievements and weaknesses of previous reforestation strategies implemented since the years 1935 and to propose new guidelines that will make it possible to develop a new reforestation strategy more adapted to the current context.
- At the end of the workshop, it should be noted that several strategies for mobilizing actors in reforestation actions have been tested and have made it possible to achieve results that for the most part remain mixed. New strategies have been proposed in this document and their operationality requires the will of all actors ranging from policy makers to grassroots communities. The strategy for mobilizing reforestation, as set out, requires very significant financial, human and material resources coming from State resources as well as those of Territorial Communities and individuals. To do this, actors will be able to rely on the sustainable financing options proposed in this document.
