Sustainable development necessarily involves the sustainable management of natural resources, especially forest resources, and this through the implementation of simplified development plans by village communities. The Beninese authorities are aware of this. Their clear desire to move forward in this area has resulted in the development, adoption and promulgation of several legislative texts, including Law 93-009 of 2 July 1993 and its implementing decree.
