2022 Aug 18FINAL REPORT OF THE PLEA FOR THE COMMUNITY CONSERVATION OF MARINE TURTLES (NGO TROPICAL NATURE)
This document is the report of the PLEA MADE BY THE NGO NATURE TROPICALE IN FAVOR OF THE COMMUNITY SAFEGUARDING OF MARINE TURTLES ON
THE AFRICAN ATLANTIC COAST AND THEIR HABITATS ALONG THE BENIN COAST.Raising awareness among society and the various stakeholders about the environment: this is the first step towards concrete and sustainable action. Each year during the spawning season, an emergency plan is implemented to monitor the beaches of Benin with the collaboration of Ecosystems Guards, composed of volunteers equipped for the task. The actions undertaken have made it possible to significantly improve the state of conservation of marine turtles in Benin, but much remains to be done. Thus, in 2016, Nature Tropicale received the support of the Royal Institute of Natural Sciences of Belgium (IRSNB) through CEBiOS to develop awareness-raising actions in favor of marine turtles.
The results produced at the end of this project allowed the IRSNB to renew its confidence in Tropical Nature and to once again give it support to raise awareness among the school world about the preservation of marine and coastal resources.
The purpose of this report is to take stock of the activities and results of this awareness-raising campaign.
