2011 Dec 31Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2011-2020
Faced with the worrying deterioration of elements of biological diversity, the international community adopted in June 1992 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), among other Conventions, the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
The ratification of this Convention by Benin in June 1994 testifies to the manifest political will of our country to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, whose importance for the survival of all beings on planet Earth is well established. Benin has therefore made a commitment, like all other stakeholder nations, to develop a national biodiversity strategy and action plan (NBSAP), a commitment that it honored in 2002 by developing its first NBSAP with the ultimate goal of “halting the loss of biological diversity by 2010" .Taking into account the Aichi objectives and the shortcomings associated with the formulation and implementation of the NASPB, with the ultimate aim of “halting the loss of biological diversity by 2010". Taking into account the Aichi objectives and the shortcomings associated with the formulation and implementation of the NASPB B_2002, this document is Benin's revised SPANB report prepared on a highly participatory basis.
