But there are many challenges: first of all, knowing the species and their ecosystems in order to know which ones should be protected and prioritized. Second, sustainable mechanisms and funding must be developed. In scientific studies as well as with public opinion and political leaders, biodiversity has emerged as a major collective security issue.
