2013 Jul 01An agricultural diversification strategy in the northern region of Benin
In the villages of Partago, in the east of the Donga department, the territory is strongly marked by the presence of Néré trees, or shea trees, in production systems. These trees are important sources of income for farmers. This document presents the production systems in this village in Benin. It is about:
- Traditional family production systems, where the workforce is essentially family (no paid labour)
- production systems with harness farming, where paid labour is added to family assets.
- Improved land clearing, an endogenous practice in the villages of Partago;
- Agroforestry systems: what evaluation, what income for the household?
- Agroforestry systems, a productive capital to be respected.
