This is a project between the Government of the Republic of Benin and the United Nations Development Programme. The project is designed to grant protected area status to 10 groups of sacred forests in ecologically important regions of the country, support activities to manage and preserve the remains of these forests within the current forest administration by applying specifically designed participatory management strategies and promote methods of sustainable use of natural resources around these forests in order to reduce exploitation pressures on protected resources.
