2012 Dec 31Ethnobotanical study of the woody forest resources of the Agonvè swamp forest and related soils in Benin
This ethnobotanical study was carried out at the level of populations living near the Agonvè forest,
one of the swampy forests of South Benin. It made it possible to describe the different forms
of use of woody plant species by populations and to calculate the ethnobotanical use values
associated with these species. Twenty-eight woody species have been inventoried. Various uses are made of
these species: medicinal, food, energy wood, lumber and crafts. The analysis of the
main component of the matrix (forms of use * species) made it possible to show that populations
generally do not forest species that they consider useful in food
or in pharmacopoeia. Leaves, bark, fruits and roots are the most used parts
