The project initiated for this purpose, called “Project for the Integration of Sacred Forests into the System of Protected Areas of Benin” (PIFSAP), is co-financed by the Global Environment Fund (GEF), the beneficiary Municipalities, the Beneficiary Municipalities, the UNDP and the Government of Benin. This project aims to conserve the globally important biodiversity present in Benin by protecting and sustainably managing the biologically and culturally important forest resources of sacred forests. Achieving these objectives requires a participatory and multi-actor process that can guarantee the full support of the various stakeholders. In this context, the PIFSAP, in order to provide each of the sacred forests with a management tool, requested the service of the Action Center for Environmental Protection and Health (NGO CAPES) to conduct the process of developing the simplified management and management plan for the Nankouni Kôni sacred forest in the municipality of Toucountouna.This document is therefore the results of their work.
