The rational management of natural resources, both physical and biological, is undoubtedly one of the main challenges of the future that concerns all Beninese from North to South, from East to West. The results achieved by the various interventions in the field of conservation and rational use of resources fall far short of expectations. Much remains to be done and this strategy and action plan document gives new life to the issue of managing wetlands in southern Benin, in this case and transboundary wetlands. The trend of ecosystem degradation and the poaching of the manatee population is taking place far from satisfying the principle of sustainable use. It is in order to contribute to the rational management of these resources that this strategy paper is being developed in order to rethink and develop new actions aimed at meeting the expectations of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance.
