Let go of Sitatunga

The Regional Center for Research and Education for Integrated Development (CREDI-ONG), in collaboration with the forest administration and local authorities, effectively released the first Sitatunga or water guib (Tragelaphus spekeii) born in captivity in the Sitatunga Valley (village of Anagbo, district of Kpanroun, municipality of Abomeyii) born in captivity in the Sitatunga Valley (village of Anagbo, district of Kpanroun, municipality of Abomeyii) -Calavi). The activity took place in the presence of the forest inspection authorities, the Head of the district of Kpanroun, the president of the Brotherhood of Hunters of the Valley and some curious people. An action designed and implemented by the CREDI-ONG team, in a dynamic of repopulating the world of the largest game in South Benin, the Sitatunga.

“It had never happened before,” said the president of the hunting association, the head of the district and the head of forest inspection.

Thus, after 16 months of daily care and follow-up, since her birth, the young Sitatunga nicknamed “Djiffla” returns to the land of her ancestors carrying with her the noble mission of contributing to the massive multiplication, as her name suggests, of her race, which is already in danger.

We can't wait for this first experience to bear the fruit of our expectations...
