2006 Mar 31Report on the technical nursery training for groups of young people for the environment in the municipality of Djidja
This report reports on the training, entitled “Training in nursery techniques for youth groups for the environment in the municipality of Djidja”. It is organized by the Project to Establish a Youth Corps for the Environment in Djidja and Ouaké, which is managed by the Environment Department of the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Urban Development (DE/ MEHU). This project aims to fight poverty by generating jobs for young people through activities to restore the environment, protect natural resources and short-term income-generating activities and its managers are convinced that the development of alternative income-generating activities necessarily requires adequate training for young people in areas identified by these young people themselves.
It is a practical training that focuses on the creation and management of forest nurseries. It brought together 30 participants from 10 environmental youth groups in the commune of Djidja for 5 days in the village of Dridji (DAN District) from 27 to 31 March 2006 (see the list of participants in the annex). This report is organized into five (05) main sections. The first part recalls the context, the objectives, the expected results and the mandate of CENAD, the second part is devoted to the content of the detailed training following a daily program in the annex; the third part presents the methodology followed for the perfect conduct of the training. The fourth part deals with the course, implementation and results of the training. The difficulties encountered and measures taken are addressed in the final part followed by recommendations.
